Seasonal Weed Sprayer

Under the direction of the County Weed Supervisor, this seasonal position works with chemical herbicides to rid the County of Noxious weeds following the Utah State Noxious Weed Laws (Title 4, Chapter 17, Paragraphs 1 - 11) including becoming a licensed applicator.

Examples of Duties include: 

  • Sprays areas with herbicides assuring control of noxious weeds without harm or destruction to adjacent vegetation on public lands, road sites, canal banks and private fields.
  • Mixes various herbicides to the correct proportions for the job, assess wind direction and speed, possibility of chemicals leaching and other conditions which may result in improper and hazardous applications of herbicide.
  • Records location of problem weed areas, areas that have been sprayed and areas of future needs on the appropriate maps of San Juan County.  Assists in recording services rendered to property owners noting extent of spraying operations and fees to be charged.
  • May be required to work unconventional work hours and be subject to call-back or stand-by status due to weather conditions.
  • Performs any and all duties as required or assigned.

Salary for the seasonal position is $18.98 per hour.
