Code 6
Code 6 by James Grippando
Reviewed by L. Bennett
Kate has almost graduated from law school but she isn't looking forward to a law office. Instead she wants to write a play about the Hollerith machine that was used to track Jewish people in Germany. She sees modern equivalencies in her father's high-tech ultra-secret company that does work for the CIA. When her ex-boyfriend is assigned to conduct an audit of that company and a young fellow she once baby sat disappears before he can be interviewed by the ex-boyfriend, Kate's world goes topsy-turvy.
In a plotline that is both contemporary and old school, author James Grippando weaves a mystery-thriller that has just about everyone denying that Code 6 exists or trying to hide it until it can be sold to the highest bidder. Bad guys, body guards, and a father who seems disconnected, uninformed, devious, and caught in a power struggle. And then there's Kate's mother, what the heck did she get herself into? But don't forget the alcoholic producer who pushes Kate into writing a play that she didn't intend. Lots going on this this readable, quick-paced novel.
