Blanding Senior Center Activities Request for Qualifications
San Juan County Aging is seeking a qualified individual or organization to provide weekly activity services at the Blanding Senior Center as a paid contractor. We invite you to submit a quotation in response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ). All responses and qualifications need to be received by 5:00 PM February 27, 2025. Scope of Services
The selected contractor will be responsible for planning, promoting, and facilitating engaging activities for seniors (aged 60 and above) once a week throughout the year. The primary duties include:
- Activity Scheduling: Collaborate with the Center Director and staff to determine the most suitable day of the week for activities (excluding evenings and weekends).
- Promotion: Effectively promote the approved activities to encourage participation.
- Participant Engagement: Gather feedback from participants to evaluate satisfaction and guide future programming.
- Setup and Cleanup: Prepare the space before activities and ensure it is cleaned afterward.
Terms of Engagement
- Independent Contractor:
- The contractor will operate independently and must secure and maintain all necessary insurance, including general liability, automobile, disability, unemployment, and worker’s compensation.
- The contractor is responsible for all payment' of all applicable taxes and must indemnify San Juan County against any claims arising from noncompliance.
- Background Check:
- The contractor must consent to a background check. The County reserves the right to terminate the services agreement based on the results.
- No Subcontracting:
- The contractor may not subcontract any services without the written consent of San Juan County.
Compensation
The contractor will be compensated at a rate of $50 per session. San Juan County has allocated an annual budget of $2,000, covering presenter fees and supplies for the program.

The activity plan includes monthly themes designed to engage seniors and foster community interaction:
- January: New Year, New Hobbies (Arts & Crafts Workshop)
- February: Heartfelt Connections (Valentine’s Day Social & Craft Session)
- March: Spring Craft (Rock Painting)
- April: Spring Gardens (Gardening Workshop)
- May: Music and Memories (Music Session)
- June: Summer Wellness (Nutrition & Healthy Eating Seminar)
- July: Creative Expressions (Creative Writing Workshop)
- August: Outdoor Fun (I Spy Summer Sand Bottles)
- September: Fall into the Season (Autumn Luminaries)
- October: Spooky Festivities (Halloween Craft Party)
- November: Gratitude and Reflection (Meal Sharing & Recognition Activity)
- December: Holiday Cheer (Holiday Music & Karaoke)
Each session will have a budget allocated for presenter fees ($50/session) and necessary activity supplies.
