What is the PIT Count?
The PIT Count is a crucial, federally-mandated annual survey. It provides a single-night snapshot of people experiencing homelessness in San Juan County.
- When: Conducted every year in late January
- What it includes: People in both sheltered (emergency shelter, transitional housing) and unsheltered settings (streets, parks, vehicles)
- How it works: Dedicated volunteers and staff interview individuals to collect essential data using a standardized survey

URGENT: Upcoming Count - Volunteers Needed
We need your help to make the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count a success! We are seeking volunteers to participate across various locations in San Juan County.
Count Details:
- When: January 28th through January 31st, 2026
- Where: Volunteer teams are needed in Monticello, Blanding, Bluff, White Mesa, Mexican Hat, La Sal, and Spanish Valley
- Times: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
